Not a whole lot to report here, but as someone who really liked Adam Green’s Hatchet I thought it would be cool to share this new teaser art for the sequel.
The picture debuted on the film’s official MySpace page. This is also the place to be for future casting updates and things of that nature, apparently. And really, that’s all I’ve got on this one. Just knowing that Victor Crowley is returning to action will have to tide you over for now.
Keep it here and I’ll bring you more details on Hatchet 2 as they’re announced.
STYD scored the first look at the new teaser for Scream 4 (it’s at AFM) and I’m posting it above, watermark and all (cause that’s how I roll–and really, STYD deserves credit for all the good work they do).
First impressions? Meh. Thank god it’s a teaser, because it looks like something that was thrown together at the last minute. No way does this become an official poster for the film. I’d be amazed if the real one-sheets looked anything like this when they make their inevitable appearance at some future date. It is kinda nice to see Ghostface though–he’s like an old friend at this point.
Scream 4 is still in the pre-production stages. Kevin Williamson is working on a screenplay, and Neve Campbell and the Arquettes are returning to reprise their roles from the original trilogy. Wes Craven still hasn’t signed on to direct, but let’s hope he does–because if we have to have a new trilogy, I can’t really think of anyone else I’d want to direct one of these movies.
The ball is really rolling on Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy. The documentary chronicling all things Freddy Krueger was only officially announced within the past week or so, but since then we’ve already seen a teaser trailer, an official website, and now we get our first look at the teaser poster (courtesy of Fangoria).
So far, I like what I see. Daniel Farrands is directing the film (which should mean it’s in good hands–he was also responsible for the entertaining Friday the 13th documentary His Name was Jason) and actress Heather Langenkamp will do the narration.
Keep up to date with all the latest Never Sleep Again news by checking out the official website. The film is currently slated for release sometime next year.
This actually came out yesterday, but I didn’t get around to posting it until this afternoon. I’d give you a reason why, but I have none.
Every time Priest comes up here at the site, I can’t help but mention that I’m a lot less interested in it since Gerard Butler isn’t playing the lead character now. Paul Bettany seems like a good chap, but let’s face it–he’s not King Leonidas. That being said, I’m still marginally interested in Priest–despite all the warning signs telling me I should be very wary. What are those warning signs? The only one you really need to know is that it’s based on a manga–and I fucking hate anime and manga. It’s also had a star (Butler) and a director attached at one point and both guys are gone. There can be scheduling conflicts and things of that nature that cause people to leave projects, but in this case it seems rather ominous.
Despite these potential red flags, the idea of a priest tracking down a band of vampires (in direct defiance of the Catholic church) who’ve kidnapped his niece sounds pretty good. I guess we’ll all find out if it lives up to that potential in August of next year when it releases.
Until then, that’s a look at the teaser poster for the film above. If that’s not enough Priest action for one day, you can also check out the official website. Not much there at the moment, but you can “register for updates”.
Bloody-Disgusting scored the exclusive on this new Saw VI poster–one that features the carousel trap from the clip I posted earlier. As far as one-sheets go, this one is pretty cool. The red swirl is a nice touch.I definitely prefer it over the motion poster for a few days ago.
But, to be honest, Saw as a whole is starting to feel very stale and predictable to me. Narratively, visually, everything to do with the franchise has almost become cliche at this point. I’ll still be checking out Saw VI when it hits theaters on October 23rd, but as I’ve said in the past, I think I’m pretty much Saw-ed out at this point.
Filmax, the guys responsible for bringing us [Rec], have unveiled the teaser poster for their new project, Exorcismus.
If the title didn’t give it away, Exorcismus is another in a long line of demonic possession flicks. When a young girl begins acting erratically, her family brings in a priest to get to the root of the problem. Secret cameras then record the strange events that transpire.
Exorcismus is being directed by Luis de la Madrid and is based on a screenplay by The Devil’s Backbone scribe David Munoz.
Thanks to Aullidos for the teaser poster image. If you swing by Bloody-Disgusting you can read a detailed synopsis of the film they managed to score late last year.
One upcoming horror project that I’m really interested in is Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated. If you missed the teaser trailer when I posted it back in April, go here and check it out.
Here’s what I had to say about the movie back then:
Night of the Living Dead Reanimated is one of the most bizarre yet intriguing projects I’ve heard of in years. Basically, it’s an animated retelling of Romero’s classic Night of the Living Dead. That’s cool–but what makes it really different is that it’s been created by a group of different artists, using vastly different art styles, all merged into one narrative. What this means is that one scene might be traditional animation, the next claymation, then a third in pencils. It’s odd looking, but the weirdness of it turns out to be part of the charm.
Things seem to be moving along toward the winter 2009 DVD release date, as witnessed by the unveiling of this teaser poster for the film. The one-sheet does a nice job of highlighting not only some of the iconic images from Romero’s original, but also demonstrating some of the diverse animation styles that will be on display in the final product. All in all, I dig it.
You can keep up to date with the project by checking out the film’s official website. Here’s to hoping this one does well enough to spawn a sequel wherein artists tackle Dawn of the Dead…
A few days ago, I posted the teaser trailer for season 2 of HBO’s popular vampire show True Blood. Now the channel has released a teaser poster to go along with it. Since it seems like a few of you really enjoy the show, here it is.
True Blood‘s second season starts airing on June 14th. If you’re like me, and missed the first season, you can score the new DVDs on Tuesday May 19th and be caught up in time to watch the new episodes right from the start.
Remaking The House on Sorority Row (which is now simply Sorority Row) seems like an odd idea to me, but I guess if you’re going to remake something, you might as well remake a film that A. not a lot of people saw and B. wasn’t particularly great in the first place.
This “re-imagining” of the film seems pretty typical. Replace a cast of unknowns from the original with hot young stars of today (like Audrina Partridge), add in slick visuals and a stylish yet generic visual look and you’ve got yourself a movie that probably costs the studio less money to make than it will earn in its opening weekend.
Anyway, the new teaser one-sheet for the film is now available. Looks good, I guess. I don’t know–I’m just not overly excited about this movie. The trailer wasn’t bad, but I’m still thinking Black Christmas remake every time I see it. That’s not a good thing. I will say this, I still like the killer’s weapon of choice, featured prominently in the trailer and the poster.
Expect to take a trip to Sorority Row on October 2nd.
Here’s a look at the latest poster for Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2, his sequel to his reboot of one of horror’s most beloved franchises. Naturally, this turned up on his MySpace blog.
My initial reaction is once again “meh”. I can’t really understand why making a good teaser poster for this movie seems so damn hard. The original one wasn’t very inspiring (but to be fair, the film hadn’t been shot yet and there wasn’t a bunch of material lying around to use in a one-sheet), but this one should be better. The movie’s been shot–I’m sure there’s a truckload of good imagery they could have used. I mean, don’t get me wrong–this is just another teaser poster, but it looks like a lame direct to DVD cover to me. And naturally, it appears as though “ghost mom” is lurking back there in the corner, too.
All in all, I’m just not feeling this one. Am I being too nitpicky or is it simply pretty bland?
