New Body Count Segment Keeps the Halloween Spirit Alive

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

One of the best things on G4′s Attack of the Show (aside from Olivia Munn) is director Joe Lynch’s Body Count segment. Once every few months, Lynch does a spot highlighting some of the great horror films that are available on DVD. And since Joe knows his shit, he’s talking about the good stuff. You’ll never see a Body Count segment convincing you to run out and pick up Twilight or some bland studio cash-in. If it turns up on Body Count, it’s almost assuredly something that horror geeks love.

The latest installment is no exception. Lynch highlights three great films: Night of the Creeps, Audition, and Hardware. Check out the clip below.

Robert Englund Waxes Poetical on Attack of the Show

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

G4′s Attack of the Show caught up with Robert Englund recently, and below you can find the nearly 14 minute clip that comprises the fruit of their labor. If you’re a fan of Englund (and if you’re not, you’ve clearly come to the wrong blog…) you’ll want to check this out. He covers a wide range of topics–everything from his new biography, his career in Hollywood, how he feels about horror and his fans, his thoughts on the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, and more.

Don’t listen to me prattle on about it, click the player below and enjoy.

Joe Lynch Brings Us Another Body Count Segment

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

I really wish G4′s Attack of the Show would let Joe Lynch do these Body Count segments more often. It’s so rare to see someone on television talking about horror flicks and not just telling you to go see the old standards (we get it, non-horror television people–The Exorcist and Psycho are classics. You’re not telling us anything we don’t already know…)

Lynch’s latest installment aired a few days ago, and as usual it’s a great segment highlighting three films you might not be familiar with. That alone would make it worth watching, but Lynch is also very affable–a fact that only makes the segment that much more fun to watch.

Watch the video below to see why the director recommends Street Trash, Ebola Syndrome (sweet Jesus, I never thought I’d see the day where someone on mainstream American television talked about and showed clips from Ebola Syndrome. It’s bittersweet for me–I love that it’s now happened, but I always wanted to be the guy to do it…), and the adaptation of Jack Ketchum’s novel The Lost

New Body Count Segment Airs on Attack of the Show

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

I love the fact that G4′s Attack of the Show actually has a segment devoted to horror films–and that they went out and found someone to do it who knows what he’s talking about (Wrong Turn 2 director Joe Lynch). My only complaint here is why isn’t this segment taped more often? I believe this is only the second one they’ve featured–and it’s been months since the first one debuted.

Anyway, if you haven’t seen this installment of Body Count, check it out. Lynch gives hearty recommendations to three films: Pascal Laugier’s cinematic punch-in-the-balls Martyrs, Argento’s absolutely seminal giallo Deep Red, and cult indie favorite Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. If the films weren’t enough, they tape the segments at the Dark Delicacies bookstore in southern California–meaning you can look at all the stuff in the background and drool over how cool the place looks (all my trips to LA and I never made it to Dark Delicacies…)
