Spoilerific Test Reel for Conor McMahon’s The Disturbed
AFM is over for another year, but I suspect it’ll be at least another week before I see even half the stuff that was at the show. One example of this is Conor McMahon’s The Disturbed–a gritty revenge thriller with exploitation elements (it kinda reminds me of August Underground in some ways) that got lost in the shuffle at the show.
I like McMahon (he directed the Irish zombie flick Dead Meat) and I’ve been wondering what he was going to do next. Here’s a synopsis of the film and a test reel (which contains some major spoilers, so proceed with caution…) courtesy of Twitch.
Clyde and Jed are two typical best buddies. They hang out, talk movies, pig out on junk food and then entertain their other common hobby; terrorizing and killing young girls on camera. Their latest victim, Sarah, is totally unaware of what exactly is going on when the two men take her from the trunk of their car and drag her to their bachelor pad.
The murderers plan out every detail of the film in front of Sarah, terrifying her and leaving her with only one goal: escape.
In her darkest hour, with no chance of survival at hand, a glimmer of hope arrives in the form of a spirit who has something much more wicked planned for these twisted friends.
No word yet on American distribution, but I suspect this one will turn up here at some point. I’ll keep you posted as I hear more.

“No word yet on American distribution, but I suspect this one will turn up here at some point” Or, be remade.

Wow, you did warn me about the spoilers but I feel like I just saw a Cliff’s Notes version on the whole movie. Still, it looks pretty good. I’ll check it out.

Yeah, I saw the trailer a few days ago (and no one gave me a spoiler warning…) and I was like “well, fuck, I guess I can say I just saw this movie.”

I saw this movie. It’s actually really cool. There’s a whole supernatural element in the film that the trailer doesn’t show

That’s good to hear–because I’d definitely like to see it but was hoping they hadn’t spoiled the whole thing in the clip.
