Dourif to Have Larger Role in Halloween II

brad-dourifThe guys at STYD caught up with Rob Zombie during Comic-Con and naturally they discussed Halloween II. Zombie says the film has had test screenings in New York and that he’s been happy with the results (they’re moving on to LA this week–and then doing more editing).

The most interesting tidbit he dropped was that Brad Dourif (Sheriff Brackett in the films) is going to have a much bigger part in the sequel. Here’s what Zombie told Ryan Rotten:

“Brad’s very important to the movie. Last time, you couldn’t fit too much with him. Here you have your survivors. Laurie Strode moves in with Sheriff Brackett and Annie. That’s the core of your movie. For Brackett, Brad grew his hair long and he’s all rough looking. He’s old, he’s worn out, he’s just this beat-down guy with these two girls he can’t deal with. Brad must have that in his real life because he latched onto it. He was like, ‘Man, I can relate to this. I’m getting old.’ He really bonded with those two girls. He didn’t have a lot to do in the first film but here he really digs in. There’s classic Brad Dourif in this.”

Hm…does this mean Sheriff Brackett could be the “unlikely hero” we heard about a few months back? I guess we’ll find out on August 28th.

I’ve been a Dourif fan for a long time, so this is good news. Really looking forward to this movie. I hope Zombie hillbillies and white trashes the joint up until the last John Carpenter fan has committed seppuku (I love Carpenter, but his rabid fan base scares me).
