Dunstan’s The Collector Finds a Distributor
Marcus Dunstan (best known as one of the screenwriters responsible for creating the Feast franchise and penning several of the Saw sequels) is set to make his directorial debut with a twisted take on the home invasion flick, The Collector (originally titled Midnight Man). The film is finished, but has been waiting for someone to pick it up for theatrical distribution–and news has emerged that Liddell Entertainment will do just that, giving the movie a national theatrical release on July 31st.
Co-written by Dunstan and his regular writing partner Patrick Melton, the film revolves around an ex-con forced to break into the home of his wealthy employer in order to steal stuff so he can pay off his ex-wife. Unluckily for him, someone else has already broken into the house and taken the family hostage–and rigged the place with an elaborate series of booby traps.
I’m interested in this one mostly because I like home invasion films–but the whole thing definitely gives off a Saw vibe–and I’m basically all Saw-ed out at this point.
You can get an early look at some of the film’s footage by heading over to the official website.
