Predators Closing in on a Director?
I’ll be honest, this whole Predators thing is exciting to me, but I feel like I need a scoresheet to keep up with all the information floating around out there. First it’s going to be a Rodriguez directed film, then it’s not. It’s a remake, no, it’s a sequel. Schwarzenegger is coming back–hold on, that’s not true. It’s full on insanity with this film and they haven’t even started shooting it yet. It’s cool though–this level of discourse so early on shows how interested fans are in the project–plus it’s sort of fun to hear all this stuff and imagine how it might turn out.
The latest gossip comes from Bloody-Disgusting (who, it should be noted, have a very good track record with scoops when it comes to this film). BD is reporting that Neil Marshall is being courted to direct. This is not a done deal yet, but their man on the inside says the deal is close to happening.
Marshall’s directed The Descent, Doomsday, and the werewolves vs military men flick Dog Soldiers. His work on that last film is what makes news of him handling Predators so intriguing–they’re sort of similar kinds of films and Marshall demonstrated he’s more than capable of telling a compelling story where trained soldiers do battle with a force they’re no match for. If this pans out, it could be a brilliant choice.
I’ll have more on this once Marshall is officially confirmed as being onboard–or when news of the deal falling through leaks.
